Music Arranging 2 is the continuation of Music Arranging 1 course. In this course, the student will learn the ranges and technical possibilities of Flute, Oboe, Clarinet, Saxophones, Trumpet, Trombone, Solo Violin, Solo Guitar, Sitar, Dilrubha, and Sarangi. The student will also learn to effectively write solo parts for the instruments mentioned above and also the student will be taught the concept of writing counter melodies for a given melody.

  • Flute, its range, and technical possibilities.
  • Oboe, its range, and technical possibilities.
  • Clarinets, its ranges, and technical possibilities.
  • Saxophones, its ranges, and technical possibilities.
  • Trumpets, its ranges, and technical possibilities.
  • Solo Violin, its range, and technical possibilities.
  • Solo Guitar, its range, and technical possibilities.
  • Sitar, its range, and technical possibilities.
  • Shehnai, its range, and technical possibilities.
  • Dilrubha, its range, and technical possibilities.
  • Sarangi, its range, and technical possibilities.
  • Writing effective solo parts.
  • The Technique of Writing a Counter melodies.
  • The Technique of Writing for a Combination of instruments.
  • Final project.

  • Requirements

    Prerequisites

  • Age 16+
  • The student must have completed Music Theory 1, 2 and 3 courses or must have completed Grade 8 theory exam conducted by Trinity College of Music, London or ABRSM. The Student should be good in Western Music Notation reading and writing and also should have completed Music Arranging 1 Course.
  • Software and Hardware Requirements

  • Any sequencing software (Cubase or LogicPro).
  • The students should be able to sequence music using MIDI keyboard.
  • The Students should also know how to use VST Plug-ins.
  • The Students should buy the Kontakt Library, Hollywood Strings, Hollywood Woodwinds, Hollywood Brass, Trillian, Omnisphere, Piano, Electric Piano, Groove Agent. Battery and Guitar VST Plug-ins.
  • PC or Mac system.
  • Good Soundcard.
  • MIDI Keyboard.

  • The Study of Orchestration by Samuel Adler.
  • Arranging for Horns by Jerry Gates.
  • Music Arranging and Orchestration by John Cacavas.

    Weekly two classes and each class is one hour.
